The Route 66 Cruisers Car Club was formed in 2006 in Claremore, Oklahoma (Rogers County) where US/OK Route 66 runs right through the town. Claremore is near the birthplace of Will Rogers (1879-1935), the iconic American humorist, commentator, actor, and vaudeville performer. The Cherokee Nation erected a memorial to Rogers known as 'The Cherokee Kid' in Claremore where he is now buried.

The Cruisers are classic car enthusiasts dedicated to supporting many local charities as well as the children's transportation fund of the Akdar Shrine in nearby Tulsa. This club has raised over $55,000. over the years with their car related activities to support the Shriners. Other local charities have benefitted as well from the money raised by the annual car show at Claremore Lake Park and swap meets in Claremore. Members are dedicated to helping others in need or crisis. Toy runs at Christmas, helping the local Rotary Club to enrich local schoolchildren, Light of Hope a recovery and prevention program, Safenet Services for families in crisis, military veteran programs and parades, and Samaritan's Purse who support those in need after disasters as well as others have been supported through the hard work of this group.

All of the donations are funded through two main events in Claremore. The last weekend in September beautiful Claremore Lake Park is covered with all kinds of classic cars parked on the cool grass under large shady trees as the Cruisers host our annual car show with food, fun, music, and crafts overlooking this gorgeous lake. Car enthusiasts and families all over northeastern Oklahoma and nearby Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas frequent this free event. The car entrants are judged and receive great trophies and other benefit. The first weekend in October, the Cruisers host a popular swap meet that people come from far and wide to find unique automotive parts, crafts, and food. Originally held at the Will Rogers Rodeo Grounds at Claremore Lake Park, the swap meet is now held at the local shop, The Nut House, right on Route 66 on grass and under shade trees in front of this great local business. This local Verdigris area treasure has local products, beautiful gifts, a restaurant, and even RV rentals. Area participants have loved the new location change.

Route 66 Cruisers members are true classic car enthusiasts. Many members belong to other car clubs within Oklahoma, often related to their favorite make or model, but together we stand strong for the Cruisers. Members share many social events put on by our community or surrounding municipalities. The club has been supported my many local businesses over the years and members are grateful and blessed to have their generous support.

Come join us in Claremore, Oklahoma for the unique opportunity to enjoy our car themed events, chat with classic car experts, and meet great people. Join us! We would love to have you become a part of a enthusiastic group of car lovers.
