1:00pm -
Short instructions from Will Rogers Interpretive Guide Andy Hogan
Stops on the route below:
1. Drive past Sue Bland Oil Well, right
beside Ollies Station Restaurant, but can pull into parking lot if
you would like a photo of it.
2. Route 66 Station Park -West Tulsa on
Southwest Blvd. Photographer will take pictures for a fee of your
car an or family, tour the stop. Overflow parking can use Webster
High School parking lot if needed. Photographer available 1-3pm
3. Drive on real Route 66 and cross the
Arkansas River and Go under the gateway to Route 66, limited
parking and ability to stop and get great shots of downtown and the
Arkansas River or just a great shot of all the cars coming across
Rt66. Would like to have some media set up here if they could get a
shot of the cars coming across the gateway, but not sure how we can
make that happen.
4. It is tricky to get through downtown
with the construction, but the Blue Dome is along the original route
66 and a cruise through downtown is welcomed. This is not a timed
event, just a chance to see the interesting Route 66 stops that
Tulsa has to offer, so take your time and enjoy the view of downtown
Route 66.
5. Meadow Gold sign on Route 66, a
scheduled stop with a treat for all who show their Cruise passport.
(This location is on 11th just west of Peoria).

6. There are several Route 66 stops along this
path, but the next one we actually have as a stop is the
Desert Hill Motel (
Desert Hill Inn ),
so enjoy the stops along the way, but stop and take your picture in
front of the Desert Hills Motel sign and keep for your scrapbook or
post on your facebook page.
7. Take 11th street until you have to take the
Route 66 cut over at Catoosa, Oklahoma. Right after you go
through Catoosa, the Blue Whale sits on the left of Route 66 and has
long been a favorite Route 66 Stop. Again, if you have your
passport, you will receive gift.

8. Cruise on up and stop at the Nut House,
there will be activities there all day long and plenty of treats to
buy or if you need that special cup of java or a great piece of
fudge, I am sure that Hazel can help you with that. Great store and
environment. Best pecans in the state of Oklahoma.
9. Will Rogers Hotel, is a great stop
to drive by, but I would park and take a look in the lobby of the
large statue of Will Rogers at the microphone. This was a great
hotel in its day and is worth looking at.

10. If you want a fun place for a photo,
turn right on Will Rogers Blvd and go a few blocks until you see
Will Rogers sitting on a bench reading a paper, just sit beside him
and have your picture taken with your own camera.
11. Go back to route 66 and continue to the
north east. You will see the J.M. Davis Gun Museum on the left.
Stop in and tour the Museum. It has over 50,000 items and of
course over 15,000 guns. With your passport, entry will be waived.
