Route 66 Cruiser Meeting Minutes

Pizza Hut –September 10, 2017

 Dwayne Caldwell called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.  Jerry Henry led the Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer.

Debbi Bennett read the minutes.  A motion to accept as read was made by Leona Williams and seconded Ed Ott. No one opposed and the motion was accepted. 

The Treasurer’s report was given by Anita Moorehead.  A motion to accept as read was made by Jim White and seconded by Chris Christmann. 

Dwayne welcomed visitor, Carl Briggs.  Carl has a 49 Ford Pick Up. 

Paul Richards reported that the calendars are at the printers.  It will be a 2018 calendar.  Exact cost is unknown but should be less than $5 each. 

There was discussion on moving some money out of the PayPal account. Anita will work on making a transfer from the account to our bank account.

Upcoming events include Veteran’s parade, Friday, November 10 – 10 a.m. We will go as a group.  The Will Rogers Parade and Car Show, Saturday November 4th – Parade begins at 10:30.  Leona has forms available. These must be completed and returned to the Museum by November 1st.

Since there is no Toy Run, Dwayne visited with the Boom-A-Rang Restaurant in Catoosa to collect toys on their lot.  They were very receptive to working with us. Date is tentively set for November 18th.  We will need some signage and advertising, if we decide to try this.

Car Show

City has agreed to overnight camping at the Lake.  It is intended for vendors and participants from out of town. The City is asking for us to provide signs stating the park will be closed from 10:00 to 6:00. 

Golf Cart company is asking for proof of insurance before we pick up the carts.  Dwayne will take care of it.

Sam’s gave us a $50 gift card.  We will use it for the buns and fixings for the Friday registration September 29th.

Dwayne will pick up a $50 gift card for the Furthest Distance winner.

Next Car Show meeting will be September 18th at Pavilion 1 at 6:30 p.m.

 

Thunder Birds will be available for parking.

Foyil Block Party will be September 23rd near the Phillips 66 on Rt 66.  This is a charity event to help children with back to school needs.  It is from 10 am to 2 pm.  Jerry Henry made a motion for the Club to donate $100.  It was seconded by Bill Holden. 

Chris Christmann made a motion for the club to reimburse the Caldwells for their lawyer expenses with the money from the actual revenue the club generates such as registration, water sales, vendor rentals. Carolyn Holden seconded.  A vote will be held at the October meeting. 

South Baptist Church in Tulsa is having a car show on September 17th, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Entry fee is a can good donation. 

The Car Show schedule and responsibilities were discussed. 

There was a short discussion on the Swap Meet.  The grounds need some work which should be completed before the meet.  We will meet on October 4th at noon to mark spots. (Note: Met early on 3rd due to possible rain)

Next meeting will be October 1, 2017.

Jerry Henry motioned to adjourn and Delbert Tygart seconded.  The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
