Route 66 Cruiser Meeting Minutes

Pizza Hut, January 31, 2016

Dwayne Caldwell called the meeting to order at 5:00.

The minutes were read.  A motion to accept as read was made by Jim White and seconded by Nick Carter.  No one opposed and the motion was accepted.

The Treasurer’s report was given.  A motion to accept as read was made by Nick Carter and seconded by James Rigler.  No one opposed and the motion was accepted.

Guests

Christi Dorsey and Marge Satterfield introduced a “save the date” for a Poker Run for Glad Wags.  The date is April 16th.  Glad Wags is a nonprofit foundation training and providing service dogs. Christi and Marge will be back in March with details on the route and times.

Don Avan pastor of New Heart Church presented information on the Sock Hop to benefit the Heart of a Craftsman – Hot Rod Camp.  The camp supports boys selected from the Tulsa Boys Camp.  The car this year will be a tribute car for Viet Nam veterans who didn’t return home.    The Sock Hop will be February 19th from 7 to 10.  The cost is $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  There will be a Mexican Buffet.  The Church is located at 106th and County Line Road.  There will be a silent auction, games and prizes (best costume).

Old Business 

All paper work has been received from the previous Treasurer.  We will not be having an audit at this time. 

We did purchase a 16’ enclosed trailer.  It is being stored at Aztec Locksmith, north of town in a secured area. 

Last meeting for dues.  Please see Sharon Caldwell to join if you haven’t already.  She will be updating the members list.

Reminder that the Starbird show is February 19th -21st at the River Spirit Expo.  Registration includes two passes good for all three days.  Dwayne will open our space up to other cars clubs if we don’t have 25 cars. 

There is another good car show, The Chill, coming to the River Spirit Expo, April 29 – May 1.  Details at www.thechill.net

 

New Business

Randy Weirbach received an email from Dennis Gage, the Host of My Classic Car.  Randy forwarded the email to Dwayne.  As a result, Dwayne will meet with Dennis Gage regarding the car show and covering it in his television show. 

Another cruise is being set up for Ponca City in April.   It will be an overnight trip to be able to check out all the sites, Marland’s Grand Home, Pioneer Woman Museum, restaurants and antique malls. Look for details on the web site and emails.

The Adkar Shriners sent the club a letter of thanks for our donations from the car shows, totaling over $22,000.  The letter can be seen on the our web site.

Next cruise is March 19th to Ugly John’s Museum and on to I Don’t Care restaurant to eat. 

The first NeMar Cruise will April 22nd.  This will be begin our 4th Friday of the month cruises.

The Club Picnic will be May 22nd, 1:00 at Claremore Lake, Shelter 1. 

At the Car Show Committee meeting there was conversation regarding the Pin Up Girls contest to continue to be held by an outside concern or have a club member take care of it.  Carrie Taylor volunteered to head the contest.  We will vote next month to determine which way to proceed. 

Delbert Tygart made a motion for the car club to donate $500 to Honor Flights to allow club member Jim White to be a guardian on a trip.  There will be a vote at next month’s meeting. 

Bill Holden will be at Hard Rock Casino, Riffs on February 23 and at Hard Rock Casino, Cabin Creek on April 7.

Next meeting will be March 6th at Pizza Hut.
